Having grown up in a very female-dominated environment, I have always respected and communicated well with women. I have been honoured to work with several female clients in my charity work, many of whom had sadly experienced abuse in one form or another, often at the hands of men.
As a self-identified man, I cherish the trust placed in me despite my clients' previous experiences, and have been extremely grateful for the opportunity to provide these clients with an invaluable, different male-relationship experience to what they may have had until then.
I have also had plenty of experience working with men, many being young or middle-aged adults, where we have taken the stigma out of talking about our problems, and in doing so have helped these clients to get more in touch with their emotions, improve their ways of communicating, and develop healthier, more fulfilling relationships as a consequence.

Being of South-East Asian descent, I feel well-placed to work effectively with clients from minority groups, for whom feeling different and ‘othered’ may be familiar. My appreciation for different cultures allows me to see the world through my client’s eyes, recognising that the environment doesn’t always feel geared to supporting their needs as it may do for majority groups.
My work on BetterHelp has also helped in broadening my experience, as it is has given me the opportunity to work with clients from all around the world, from Japan to Iceland to Mainland Europe and even closer to home like the Republic of Ireland, which have all been extremely enriching experiences for me personally.
Just as I hope to help my clients affect the change they want to see in their lives, the connection we forge changes me too, always for the better.
