About Dr. Karen
Dr. Karen received her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon (1989), the oldest, four-year accredited naturopathic medical university in North America. Prior to her medical training, she received a Bachelor's degree in Physiology at Southern Illinois University (1982).
While in her first year at NUNM, her health was impacted while grieving the loss of a family member. For nearly a year, she struggled with debilitating fatigue, chronic sinus congestion and vertigo until a homeopathic treatment stimulated a dramatic recovery. This experience motivated her to become proficient in classical homeopathy. She completed all the homeopathic elective coursework offered at NUNM as well as a two-year, post-graduate homeopathic residency.
She knows the vital role the mind plays in well-being. As part of her commitment to healing, she practices daily meditation and attends meditation retreats several times a year.
Dr. Kunkler is a member of the Wisconsin Naturopathic Doctors Association. There are currently 22 states that have licensing or registration laws for naturopathic doctors. However, Wisconsin is not yet among them. The WNDA is actively pursuing licensing legislation and we hope to become the 23rd licensed state in the coming year!
Dr. Kunkler maintains an active license in the state of Oregon and completes thirty hours of continuing education annually to maintain her license. Dr. Kunkler's services do not provide primary care, but act as a
complement to the services of a licensed medical provider.
